solarhippie: ([pos] Yes I am pretty cute.)
Hi! You've reached Karolina! I can't get to my phone right now but leave me a message and I'll get back to you as soon as I can! Byyye!

BEEP.
solarhippie: ([neu] Huh?)
Karolina'd had her hands kind of full with groceries, so she hadn't really looked at the pile of mail she'd picked up on her way in. However, right as she was at the door, the corner of one of the envelopes caught her attention.

It had the Pomona College logo on it. As in, Pomona, California.

As in, where she'd applied to for a transfer. Half on a whim.

"Babe?" she called as soon as she was actually in the apartment. She set the bag of groceries on the floor to get at the letter - and in the process, managed to spill the rest of the mail onto the floor, too.

Including an envelope that was adressed to Beauregard Lionett. And the logo of another Californian college. on it.

"Babe!"

[ooc: For the girlfriend! And much, much SP.
And yes, Team Disaster Lesbians will be moving across the country in the near future, so start getting your thread requests in now if you have them!]
solarhippie: ([neu] Huh?)
There were more dog toys in Karolina's office this week.

She was still pretty sure Nugget had never actually been in here. She was definitely sure she hadn't brought any of the toys with her from home.

But today, there were enough of them that she had to gather them in a little box in the corner. Maybe she'd take them home with her once she was done here?

[ooc: Open, of course! ETA: details of the Lucifer convo NFB, pls!]
solarhippie: ([neu] Huh?)
The office looked normal when Karolina got there today, which felt like a 'for once' kind of situation. She left the office door open - you know, as a welcoming thing! - and went and took a seat behind her desk.

And immediately felt something odd under one of her feet.

She pushed her chair back, and nudged the thing where she could see it.

It was a chew toy. For dogs.

"... Nugget hasn't even been here."

The toy situation was getting ridiculous.

[ooc: Open, of course.]
solarhippie: ([spec] Bedtime.)
Karolina had kicked ass today. Not -- not like, fighting bad guys, or anything. Just, school work ass. She'd managed to send a paper in not right under the wire but with several full hours to spare. And for that kind of asskickery, she clearly deserved a reward! So, she was drawing herself a bath.

Or at the very least, trying to.

See, last she'd done this, there hadn't been a very excitable blink dog living in the apartment with them. And now there was, and he was extremely interested in the water and the bubbles that were forming as the tub filled up.

"Nugget! Buddy, no, this isn't for you."

Nugget seemed pretty sure that this was for him, actually.

[ooc: Open, sure. *attempts to dig Kar brain out from underneath the past couple of months*]
solarhippie: ([neu] Watching you.)
New term, new students, and new office shenanigans.

Which was to say that when Karolina came in to work today, she found out that a massive balloon bouquet had been delivered to her office. And clearly by accident, because it appeared to have been meant for someone's 65th birthday.

And as Karolina was calling around, trying to figure out who'd delivered the thing so that she could, y'know, return it because it was taking up like half her office, another delivery person showed up at her office door. This one, inexplicably, carrying a fake flower arrangement made up entirely of boxer briefs.

"... Do I look like I'm Stu who's turning sixty five?"

The guy shrugged with a deadpan expression that suggested he wasn't getting paid enough to care. "Just sign here, lady," he said, pointing at his pad. "Happy birthday."

[ooc: Open!]
solarhippie: ([neu] Hmmh.)
Karolina was one of the people who'd found last week kinda cute, actually. Every part of it - except the cheery background music, which had gotten old after the first couple of days. Like, really old.

So of course, now that it was gone... Karolina kept finding herself absent-mindedly humming something that sounded suspiciously like it.

As a result, the radio was on kind of loud in the guidance counselor's office today. But the door was open, and the counselor was in! And maybe she could stop humming if she had actual company and not just paperwork.

[ooc: Open, SP warning in my afternoon as I go to the beach omg.]
solarhippie: ([pos] Happy as a clam.)
Karolina was feeling way too proud of herself for having managed to get some yoga in at home this morning even though the first summer term was over and with it also Duke's class. Maybe she'd actually manage to keep this weekly schedule going, this time?

She certainly seemed to hope so, as she spent a chunk of her morning in the office updating her calendar with yoga marked for every Tuesday during the second summer term.

Ever the optimist, our Karolina.

[ooc: This is like the opposite of method RP. Open! ETA for squirrels: the details of the convo with Duke are NFB, pls and thank you!]
solarhippie: ([neu] Thinking on it. With my hair.)
When Karolina came to her office after yoga, she ended up stopping in the doorway for a moment, and just sort of... squinting suspiciously at the room.

Because it seemed normal.

Too normal, as if it was trying very hard to maintain the illusion that nothing was amiss. Which kind of set her on edge, because now she felt like there maybe was something amiss?

It was going to be a long day.

[ooc: Open! Some SP may occur between plot-writing and how tired I am tonight.]
solarhippie: ([neu] Attentively.)
Karolina's own spring semester on the mainland was finally done, and she'd made it to yoga class two weeks in a row. So before making her way to her office, she'd dropped by JGoB to get herself a few vegan cupcakes to celebrate with.

Yes, it was kind of funny when she currently had cupcakes once a week because of class, but, come on. Cupcakes were the best!

If you were nice, she might even share.

[ooc: Open! With bouts of SP, because work. //edit for squirrels: details of the conversation with Duke are NFB, pls!]
solarhippie: ([neu] Thinking on it. With my hair.)
When Karolina came to the office today, there was a folder on her desk with some papers in it. On the folder, there was a post-it that just said important!! and nothing else. And that was fine! What was less fine was that when she actually took the papers out of the folder to read them, they turned out to be in a language she did not know.

Also in a script she didn't know how to read.

The guidance counselor was in. Save her from trying to understand her work.

[ooc: Why yes, I am getting started on a new translation assignment today. Open!]
solarhippie: ([pos] Happy as a clam.)
New term! New students! New... classes that Karolina was actually taking part in, herself? You know, ones that weren't happening on the mainland and leading to a higher education. That last part was kind of weird, but honestly also welcome. Her spring term at the community college on the mainland was nearing its finish, too, and yoga and cupcakes seemed like perfect summer activities that'd also help her connect with students and other people more even when she wasn't in her office.

Which was exactly where she was today, though. Getting through a bunch of paperwork for the new term.

She still had some vegan chocolate bars left over from making the gift bags for the new kids, and had put them in the basket on one end of her desk, ready to share with whomever came by.

... Though she had one fewer now that she was snacking on one of them, herself. Paperwork required energy!

[ooc: Open door, open post!]
solarhippie: ([neu] Ehhh.)
Karolina's office was full of bananas.

... Well, okay, fine, not full of them. But even just one bunch would've been kind of a lot for an office, and there were several - basically one on each available surface, so Karolina felt like that more than counted towards 'an office full of bananas'.

Especially once she opened up one of her desk drawers, and found several single bananas stuffed in there.

"Guess I should take these to the cafeteria for lunch time."

The guidance counselor was in. Come grab a banana.

[ooc: Open! Trying my best to brain this week.]
solarhippie: ([spec] Bedtime.)
So far, this time of year seemed to be going much in the same way it had last year, which was to say that Karolina and Beau had not made it out of the apartment a whole ton, at least not after Beau's shift at the gym had come and gone.

However, today Karolina really had go somewhere. She had an afternoon class on the mainland, and she was determined to actually make it there. She was an adult who could control her urges for long enough to get some education into her system!

... She wasn't sure her odds were great, if she was honest.

But right now, she was in the kitchen getting some breakfast together, so, hey. So far so good!

[ooc: For the gf, natch!]
solarhippie: ([neu] Just a chick.)
On Halloween, Karolina and Beau had had a pretty significant conversation about something, and a decision had been half-made that was either just common sense, or a pretty big step in their relationship. Or both. Probably both, actually.

Cut to today, and Karolina finally getting enough of a reprieve from some big school stuff to actually think about it. And, no, not about whether it was too big a step or whether it was a decision they should make, because for all that she'd said they should think about it... Yeah, she'd pretty much made her mind up about it back at Mike's party.

Which meant that now she was just standing in her living room, looking around herself, and just thinking about logistics, and how much living space two people needed, and just generally how the process would go.

"... Wow, I really don't own much stuff, do I?"

[ooc: Mainly for the girlfriend, but can be open before her, too! Up early because timezones.]
solarhippie: ([neu] Watching you.)
Karolina had handwavily spent the weekend running around from one small NPC wedding to the next, changing between bridesmaid's dresses that were all somehow always even more hideous than the last one. Always a bridesmaid, never the bride, right? Eugh.

So after all that, Karolina felt pretty grateful to finally be herself again, and to just be sitting behind her desk at work, focusing on things that actually mattered. And also which didn't require her to run around cobblestone streets, carrying ugly pastel heels in one hand.

The door to the office was open, and the guidance counselor was ready to see you!

[ooc: Open, but with a slight SP warning!]
solarhippie: ([neu] Chillingest.)
This... was an odd state of being for Karolina, yes. She supposed it was that for everyone, of course, given that it looked like the entire island was now fully black-and-white. But she was also pretty sure that as someone who was regularly all glowy pastels, maybe it was a tiny fraction extra weird for her? But anyway, at least today her brain had adjusted to it enough that she didn't feel constantly on the verge of a headache. And she'd take this over the last couple of weeks of creeping horror, especially the one before last - being trapped under a dome under the ocean had hit her pretty hard, given that all that pastel-y glowing was actually solar-based.

So this week counted as 'normal enough' in her book. So she was in her office, getting things in order for the second summer term and just generally making herself available for chats. She'd also been pleased to catch Sparkle's Pride posters on her way to the school, and she'd taken a couple of his leaflets and brought them with her to work, just in case someone came in who needed the info.

You couldn't really tell, but there was a pretty big Pride flag on the wall of her office today, too. Duh.

[ooc: Open office!]
solarhippie: ([plot] AU: Six: Talking.)
Six was not having a good time.

But at least today she'd made it to the school and the guidance counselor's office there, because she'd found a map of the school building in the apartment she was - reluctantly - staying at, and she'd suspected one of the keys on the keychain she'd found with her dress on Saturday morning was probably for the office that was circled on the map.

She'd also assumed there'd be a computer here, which she desperately needed because the laptop in teh apartment was obviously broken.

She was right on both counts.

So now she was sitting behind the desk, furiously searching on the internet - and coming up with the same dead end she had with the laptop. Which she'd deemed 'broken' for this exact reason.

"What?"

'Addison Cola Company' was returning no relevant matches.

[ooc: Open!]
solarhippie: ([neu] Ummm...)
Karolina had been down to the main school office this morning. That was... somehow never not anything short of an Experience. Karolina's past both as a Fandom student as well as person of alien origin from a world where superpowered individuals cropped up a whole lot had left her pretty accepting of various kinds of weird situations, but there was still something about interacting with a moose in a school office that left her at a loss for words.

And now that she'd made it back to her own office (with some files the moose had provided for her), she was trying to Google variations on 'how to communicate with moose'.

Unsurprisingly, she wasn't really getting anywhere with it.

[ooc: Open!]
solarhippie: ([neu] Attentively.)
Karolina was having a lazy Sunday.

Well, lazy-ish anyway: she'd had to finish up some of her school work that she would have to turn in next week and which she'd kind of fallen asleep over last night, but now that was all finished up and she was free to do whatever she pleased.

... Which, right now, seemed to be slouching on her couch watching that British baking contest thing, while she waited for her takeout to arrive. It was Sunday, she was allowed! And anyway, it kind of still counted as educational, because she was learning all about all kinds of pastries. So, maybe she'd even manage to some day put some of that knowledge to good use and bake something herself. Just, not today.

Probably not next week, either.

But some day!

[ooc: Door closed, post open!]
solarhippie: ([pos] Lipbite.)
In the end, Karolina had had most of extra flowers from Friday carted to a women's center on the mainland. But, she'd also taken some home, and she'd Googled for how to dry roses, too, so now she had a box in her office filled with silica desiccant and some roses she wasn't supposed to open for a few weeks. She realy wanted to peek in and see how they were doing, but she didn't know if that would disturb the process, so... A few hours into her work day today, she went ahead and moved the box from her desk to on top of one of the filing cabinets, where it wasn't constantly in her line of sight.

There were also a few flowers still in a vase on her desk. Starting to wilt, sure, but not too badly. They were okay enough that she didn't think they'd give her office an unwelcoming air or anything.

The door to the office was open, and the guidance counselor was in and doing some paperwork.

[ooc: Open, with bouts of slowness until I get home tonight!]
